Why A Credit Union?

Many people ask this question: Why would you want to join a credit union rather than a traditional financial institution? There are many reasons; here are just a few:

Owned by You

We are a cooperative owned by our members. As an owner, you have representation on a volunteer Board of Directors. This gives you a voice in your Credit Union.

Local

We are local. Money deposited into the Credit Union stays here in Vermont and is used to support the loan products offered by your Credit Union.

Not-for-Profit

Our not-for-profit status allows us to have fewer and lower fees, while also providing you with a competitive mix of products and services to choose from. We are also able to offer higher savings rates and lower loan rates.

It's About You!

Credit union services work to improve the economic and social well-being of all members. We don't put profit ahead of your well-being. Your financial needs are always our top priority.

Education

We educate our members with ongoing seminars and one-on-one consultations with Member Service Representatives. If you need help understanding your credit report or navigating the mortgage process, we're here as your advisor.

Community

Credit unions seek to bring about human and social development. We are actively involved in our communities, supporting charities, community events, youth and collegiate sports and higher education aspirations of both teens and adults looking to further their education. We don't do it because we have to - we do it because it's the right thing to do.
