Local Values

When we say local, we mean it - Vermont Federal Credit Union is a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution that has been dedicated to serving the needs of Vermonters for over 50 years. We are owned by our members so we'll always be in Vermont.

Founded in 1953, the Credit Union was initially only able to extend membership capabilities to people working for one of our sponsor organizations or selected employee groups (SEGs). We now operate under a community charter opening the possibility of membership to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in a variety of Vermont counties, as well as to any of their family members. Those counties include: Chittenden, Grand Isle, Franklin, Lamoille, Washington, or Addison counties.

We strive to make a decided difference in the lives of our members. By getting to know you, we can provide ongoing financial education on an array of products and services that fit your unique situation. As a member of the Credit Union you have access to a full range of financial products with competitive rates and terms. You also have access to a knowledgeable and friendly staff that is committed to serving our members and a commitment from us to operate by the cooperative principals that credit unions were founded on. Learn more about Credit Unions.

On the community front, Vermont Federal is actively involved in charitable events to support our neighbors. Our volunteer board and owners (YOU) are invited to participate along with our staff as we strive to make our community a better place for all of us. Our annual and ongoing United Way Campaign raises funds for nearly 60 programs that help children, families, individuals and seniors deal with a wide range of needs. We enthusiastically support a variety of community events and sponsorship activities, including Feed Your Neighbor, United Way, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, King Street Youth Center, Bike Recycle Vermont, and the Last Chance Christmas Program to name a few. We provide annual scholarships for members who are embarking on their college careers.

When you become a member of Vermont Federal, you will not only be a part of something local but you will also be offered the same products and services that you have come to expect from a financial institution but with the unexpected advantages such as better rates, lower fees and local attention.
