South Burlington, VT – Vermont Federal Credit Union, a Gold Sponsor of the 2025 Champlain Valley Fair and longtime supporter of the Vermont Foodbank, proudly supported the Feed a Family Day at the Champlain Valley Fair on August 28, 2025. This year’s effort broke records, collecting 9,218 pounds of food to help fight hunger across the state.
Each year, this event invites community members to bring two non-perishable food items in exchange for free admission to the fair on a designated day. This year, more than 2,500 fairgoers participated, combining a fun day at the fair with meaningful impact for families in need.
According to Hunger Free Vermont, 40% of Vermonters experience hunger every day, a sharp increase from just 10% in pre-pandemic years.
“We are incredibly proud to support a cause that helps feed local families and strengthens our community,” said Peter Winch, Director of Marketing at Vermont Federal Credit Union. “This record-breaking collection shows just how generous Vermonters are when given the opportunity to come together for a shared purpose. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making this year’s event such a success.”
All food donated during Vermont Foodbank Day has been sorted and will be distributed through the Foodbank’s statewide network of more than 280 food shelves, meal sites, senior centers, and afterschool programs. As Vermont’s largest anti-hunger organization, the Vermont Foodbank works tirelessly to ensure that every Vermonter has access to nourishing food.
