Vermont Federal Credit Union Honors National Guard Families with Scholarship Awards

March 20, 2024 -

South Burlington, VT – Vermont Federal Credit Union has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting education and honoring the sacrifices of military families by partnering with the National Guard Association of Vermont (NGA-VT) to award $1,000 scholarships to four deserving area students. This year, the scholarships were awarded to Avery Feeley, Abigail Gagnon, Colby Galipeau, and Bennett Bridges, who were selected from a pool of applicants that included students or family members of those serving in the Vermont National Guard.

"At Vermont Federal Credit Union, community support is central to our mission," said Peter Winch, Director of Marketing. "We are honored to stand alongside the Vermont National Guard and provide educational opportunities to the families of those who serve our country."

COL Doran Metzger, President of NGA-VT, expressed gratitude for the partnership with Vermont Federal Credit Union, stating, "Our mission is to support our soldiers and their families, and thanks to the generous support of Vermont Federal Credit Union, we are able to provide these scholarships and recognize the academic achievements and sacrifices of our military families."

In addition to these scholarships, Vermont Federal Credit Union also offers annual scholarships to local students through its Student Scholarship Program, awarding two $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors, and three $2,000 scholarships to those already enrolled in a college, trade school, or university or having been out of high school for more than one year. Applications for these scholarships are currently being accepted until April 24, 2024. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, leadership activities, and community service.
