Vermont Federal Credit Union Participates in Penguin Plunge to Benefit the Special Olympics

Burlington, VT – Vermont Federal Credit Union staff raises over $5,400 and participates in Penguin Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics.

On Saturday, February 6th Vermont Federal Credit Union staff members joined over 1,200 community members as they jumped into 38 degree Lake Champlain water in support of the Special Olympics. Saturday’s event raised a record amount of nearly $466,000 and was the 21st Annual Burlington Penguin Plunge.

Lance Potter, team captain and SVP of Information Systems at the Credit Union stated, “Jumping into the lake in February is always fun and exhilarating. The most rewarding aspect is helping to support Vermont athletes. Our Penguin Plunge team members are grateful for the over 100 donors that allowed us to exceed our fundraising goal to support Vermont Special Olympic athletes.”

The Credit Union participates in a variety of community events throughout the year and is proud to have participated in the plunge for the second year in a row.
