Vermont Federal Credit Union Demonstrates the Power of Community Giving on Giving Tuesday

November 30, 2023 -

South Burlington, VT – Vermont Federal Credit Union (VFCU) announces the successful culmination of its Giving Tuesday campaign, during which it donated more than $25,000 to Vermont-based nonprofits.

"At Vermont Federal Credit Union, we believe in the strength of community. Giving Tuesday provided the perfect platform to showcase the collective power of giving," said Maribeth Spellman, Chief People Officer and General Council at VFCU.

VFCU made Giving Tuesday donations to Clara Martin Center, Capstone Community Action, Enosburg Food Shelf, Green Mountain Mobile Therapy, Jenna’s Promise, Lamoille Community Center, LUND, Pride Center of Vermont, Tim’s House, and Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports.

As part of its Giving Tuesday campaign, VFCU also hosted a social media-driven initiative, allowing the community to play a pivotal role in deciding the distribution of donations. This unique campaign, hosted on VFCU's social media platforms, engaged the community in determining the allocation of funds among three noteworthy nonprofits:

  • LUND: Committed to helping vulnerable children and families thrive, Lund provides vital resources, counseling, and support to those who need it most.

  • Pride Center of Vermont: Dedicated to creating safe spaces and empowering LGBTQ+ individuals in the community, the Pride Center makes a lasting impact through its programs and support services.

  • Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports: Enabling individuals with disabilities to enjoy outdoor sports and recreation activities, Vermont Adaptive's inclusive programs break down barriers, inspiring people to achieve greatness.

The interactive campaign allowed followers to cast their votes by commenting on the organization they wished to support. LUND emerged as the winner, securing a donation of $4,000. As runners-up, the Pride Center of Vermont and Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports received $2,000 to further their impactful initiatives.

"The overwhelming response from our community reflects the shared commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of our fellow Vermonters,” Spellman said.

The Credit Union extends its gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this heartwarming campaign. VFCU encourages its members and other community members to join them in their support of local charities through financial contributions or volunteerism.
