Vermont Federal and CPSF Raise the Stakes for a Cause That Matters

October 22, 2025 -

South Burlington, VT – Vermont Federal Credit Union proudly partnered once again with the Cancer Patient Support Foundation as the Presenting Sponsor for the Third Annual Casino Night: Bet on Hope, held on October 17, 2025, at Hula Lakeside in Burlington, VT. This year's event brought together hundreds of community members for an unforgettable evening of casino-style fun and philanthropy, raising vital funds to support Vermont cancer patients and their families.

Since its launch, Bet on Hope has become one of Vermont's most anticipated fall fundraisers, combining entertainment and community spirit to make a lasting difference. Guests enjoyed blackjack, poker, roulette, live music, hors d'oeuvres, and a spirited silent auction, all in support of the Cancer Patient Support Foundation's mission to provide financial assistance and emotional support to Vermonters navigating cancer treatment.

"Giving back to our community is at the heart of who we are," said Maribeth Spellman, Chief People Officer and General Counsel at Vermont Federal Credit Union. "The Cancer Patient Support Foundation plays such a critical role in helping Vermonters during one of the most difficult times of their lives. We're honored to continue this partnership and to help make Bet on Hope an evening that truly changes lives."

Funds raised from this year's event will directly benefit the Cancer Patient Support Foundation's Emergency Fund, which provides financial assistance to over 500 Vermont cancer patients annually, helping to cover essential needs such as housing, food, transportation, and medical expenses.

About Cancer Patient Support Foundation
The Cancer Patient Support Foundation (CPSF) was established in 2001 to serve Vermont cancer patients and their families in a time of extraordinary need by providing financial assistance and support and acting as a resource during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Since then, CPSF has awarded over $3 million to patients in need. Through its Emergency Fund, CPSF serves more than 500 patients every year throughout Vermont, partnering with medical providers and social workers who refer patients for support. CPSF relies on generous donations from individuals, local businesses, foundations, and special events to help patients cover essential needs such as housing, utilities, food, transportation to treatment, and out-of-pocket medical expenses.
