Vermont Federal Credit Union Supports Vermont Foodbank with 1,600-lb Donation

Burlington, VT – Vermont Federal Credit Union donates 1,650 pounds of food to the Vermont Foodbank.

Each year, Vermont Federal Credit Union brings together its employees for an annual staff appreciation event. The theme of this year’s event was “an attitude of gratitude” and featured inspirational speeches from leadership expert, Pru Sullivan, and community leaders, Mark Redmond of Spectrum Youth & Family Services, and Allison Mindel of the Vermont Foodbank.

Employees of the Credit Union were encouraged to participate by collecting food and non-perishable donations in the months leading up to the event. The collaboration continued during the event when the employees were challenged to form teams to showcase their collected items in a creative display. Prizes were awarded for categories such as most items collected, most Vermont-made products, and most items from the Foodbank wish list. In total, Vermont Federal employees collected 1,650 pounds of food and non-perishable donations for the Vermont Foodbank.

At the end of the event, each team shared what they were most grateful for and what they had learned from the experience. For President and CEO Jean Giard, the experience was a welcome reminder of what can be achieved through partnership and mutual collaboration: “Tonight, I was overjoyed by the extraordinary talent and creativity of our staff. When we can bring together our collective strengths in the service of others, that’s when we make our highest contribution to the lives of our members and the communities that we serve.”
